JustCad v7.0 Copyright (c) 2001 Jon Hoke Caption: The caption contains the program name, followed by the current drawing name, followed by the current function and prompt information. NOTE: RIGHT CLICKING ON THE DRAWING AREA WILL DISPLAY THE EDIT FUNCTIONS. NOTE: HITTING THE ESC KEY WILL END ANY FUNCTION. NOTE: IF YOU CHANGE OPERATING SYSTEMS OR LOAD A DRAWING FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER, THE TEXT IN YOUR DRAWING MAY APPEAR COMPLETELY WRONG. IT MAY APPEAR TO BE THE WRONG SIZE OR NOT ROTATED PROPERLY. THIS IS CAUSED BY NOT HAVING THE SAME FONTS IN THE NEW SYSTEM OR NOT HAVING THE SAME FONTS ON YOUR SYSTEM AS IN THE ORIGINAL DRAWING. THIS CAN BE CORRECTED BY SELECTING ALL TEXT WITH THE FILTER AND CHANGING SELECTED FONT TO A FONT FROM YOUR CURRENT SYSTEM. JUSTCAD CAN ONLY SCALE AND ROTATE TRUETYPE FONTS. THIS CAN OCCUR THE FIRST TIME YOU LOAD JUSTCAD. YOUR SYSTEM MAY NOT HAVE THE DEFAULT FONT. SIMPLY SELECT A FONT FROM YOUR SYSTEM. The file system is standard Windows. File Menu Items: Open Drawing: Clicking on this menu will display the file selector. If you are currently working on a drawing and you have made changes since the last save, you will be prompted to save the changes. Close: Clicking on this menu will remove the current drawing from memory. If you have made any changes since the last save, you will be prompted to save the changes. Save Drawing: Clicking on this menu will display the file selector. Save Selected: You must first select the entities you wish to save with one of the select functions. Clicking on this menu will display the file selector. Save Bitmap: JustCad will save a black-on-white image of the current drawing area. No objects should be selected when using this function. Open DXF: Clicking on this menu will display the file selector. If you are currently working on a drawing and you have made changes since the last save, you will be prompted to save the changes. Save DXF: You must first select the entities you wish to save with one of the select functions. Clicking on this menu will display the file selector. Set DXF Text Aspect Ratio: The width of a text line in JustCad may not be the same as it will be in the target program. You may adjust the aspect ratio of text written to a dxf file and compensate for these differences. This value may be as small as 0.5 and as large as 2.0. Note: JustCad will load lines, circles, arcs, points, polylines and linear dimensions. JustCad will use it's current font setting for text and dimensions when loading. When possible, use fonts in JustCad which are also available in the target program. JustCad reads and writes Release 12 only. You can open a dxf file in a text editor by selecting the All Files option. JustCad can only read a file, which begins as follows: 0 SECTION 2 HEADER 9 $ACADVER 1 AC1009 Print Weight: This menu has (3) print weight options. These values will compensate, for the difference between printing to a small sheet and printing to a large sheet. When printing to larger sheets, the normal line weights may not be great enough, to give your print good contrast. The values listed reflect the printed sheet size. Printer Setup: Clicking on this menu will display the printer setup dialogue. This is a standard dialogue and should be familiar to Windows users. Print: Clicking on this menu will display the print scale form. To print your selected objects fitted, just click on the print button or hit the carriage return twice. To print to a specific scale, click on the text box and enter a new scale. A scale of 1/4" = 1'-0" would be entered as 48 because it's a ratio of 48:1. A scale of 3" = 1'-0" would be entered as 4. A scale of 1" = 40' would be entered as 480. Clicking on the cancel button will deselect all selected objects and close the form. The selected objects will be printed centered at any scale. Exit: Clicking on this menu will end the program. If you have updated the drawing, since your last save, you will be prompted to save the changes. Note: If you close the program with the control box (X) and you have updated the drawing, since your last save, you will be prompted to save the changes. Undo: This function will undo the last data, which you have entered into JustCad. Redo: This function will redo the last undo, which you have performed. When you snap to the first point which you placed on the boundary or press F1, the function will fill the bounded area with the selected hatch pattern. Note: Turn Otho mode to Ortho/On when drawing a true vertical or true horizontal boudary in the hatch function. Snapping to the end points of an existing line, which appears to be perfectly vertical or horizontal, with the Ortho mode set to Ortho/Off, may result in objects not trimming properly. Scale: Clicking on this menu will display the current hatch scale and prompt you for a new scale. A scale of (1) will fill bounded areas with the hatch pattern at the size it was created. Warning! Very small scales will create a large number of entities and make it seem as though the program has crashed. It simply takes a long time to fill the area with this many entities. Create: You may create a hatch pattern by drawing a group of objects(lines, circles or arcs) which will form a pattern when placed in an area in a checkerboard fashion. Select the objects with one of the selection functions. Click on this menu. You will be prompted to enter a name for the hatch. You will then be prompted to enter the upper-left corner of the pattern. You will then be prompted to enter the lower-right corner of the pattern. Layers allow you to trace over something you have already drawn and then hide the layer on which you are not working, and continue. For example; You could draw the plan of a room addition on one layer. You could then, leave that layer visible, while you added the dimensions for the room on another layer. You could then, hide the layer with the dimensions and add the electrical plan for the room on another layer. You could then combine these layers in various combinations, to produce whatever printout you desire. You would, of course, need one layer with the border, to combine with the other layers, to produce a proper printout. You never have to draw the same thing twice. Layers Menu Items: Set Working Layer: Clicking on this menu and then clicking on a layer, will set that layer as the Working Layer. (The layer on which drawing data will be stored.) Using other characters will cause any dxf file created to be rejected by the target cad program. Un-name Layer: Clicking on this menu and then clicking on a named layer, will un-name the layer and return the layer name to it's layer number. Add Layer: Clicking on this menu will place a cursor in the textbox at the top. You may then enter the desired name of the new layer. Hitting return will place the new layer and name in memory.
